5:00am we lost our true fighter for life. Miracle.
When Miracle was just a couple days old he fought hard for his life and was knocking on deaths door. We round the clock tended to him and he had such a drive that he pulled through. I mean we have saved babies. But he was falling over and couldnt even sit straight. He ended up making it, and we are thankful to have had him for a year and a half. We had spayed his Mom so we could keep her and him together.
Miracle never grew to the size he should have. He never reached over 300g. He was little, but he had personality and spunk. He loved getting out of his cage daily and playing on my bed, and he was very ticklish.
Almost a year ago he got a really bad infection on his penis. It was out of the sheath the majority of time. But with antibiotics it cleared up. His penis never quite looked right again and was always discolored. We think he lost some circulation to it.
Then a few months back, we noticed his tummy was very dirty with urine. He checked out fine with the doctor and it was ruled he was incontinent. You could pick him up and pee would drip. It has been a couple months since he went to the doc, and we have been keeping his genital area shaved to prevent scald and mess. But he was his perky self, and eatting and drinking like a little piggy, and playing.
We found him barely breathing at around 3:00am. He was dying. We gave him some sedative to ease his pain. I held him for an hour and a half, and after putting him back in the cage with his mama. He died at 5am.
We suspect he must have developed an infection or a stone. We are not getting a necropsy. My father, in the middle of the night dug a hole and we buried him. My mother is a mess. She loved him so much as we all did. He will be missed so incredibly much. Miracle was the epitamy of a miracle, and he will be remembered always.
