I was in a car accident while I was driving to the bowling alley. I was making a left with the arrow when along comes some teenager who is obviously not paying attention (three passengers in the car) and I stop but she sideswipes me.
So, basically, just because I was making the left my insurance tells me that I have to pay the damages on HER car and my insurance will go up to $400.00 a month. But that isn't all, because if I want my car fixed ($900.00) my insurance will go up even more.
So now I am in the hole several thousand dollars because the person making the left is automatically at fault no matter what. If I were a lawmaker I think I would definitely fix that one!
UGH!

UGH!! That sucks!!! I was in a similar position last summer, only I had PLPD (because my car was paid off), and the stupid morn teenager didn't have any insurance!!!
Insurance is IMO one of the biggest scams out there...you pay and pay and pay for it, and when you actually need it, they don't pay you a dime!

Thank you so much you guys! I am glad no one was seriously injured, but it could have been a lot worse had I not been paying attention. Unfortunately, the other girl figured other people would be watching out for her enough to save her from an accident. People these days!!!! Her insurance went after my insurance and is paying for HER damage!!! And I have to pay off all my damage by myself...UGHHHH!!! Unbelievable, seriously.

That sucks. Atleast your okay. Car Insurance Companies as well as any other Insurance Company. All just suck, and have forgotten the meaning of what Insurance is all about. I hate them so much. I'm sorry to hear that they are sticking to you.

It's the same in AZ. If you are making a left turn, it is always your fault. Unless the person, who hits you, is drunk or doesn't have insurance.
That's why I have people honking at me to pull forward more when I am waiting for the traffic to clear when turning left. I'm so paranoid about other drivers not paying attention. But, I've never had an accident in 12 years of driving...despite people driving like idiots.
Just be observant!

The only accident I ever had was when I was 17 and learning to drive. I was waiting to turn left and the dumb butt car behind me didn't stop! The guy had no insurance and boy was my dad ticked! He paid about $1500 to get the car he had just gotten for me repaired, and it was just a cruddy day.
I am so sorry that happened to you!!

Car insurance drives me nuts however it has come in handy every now and then. Good luck dealing with any of that stuff! Sorry to hear you had to go through that.

Oh, sorry you have to deal with this. It's always a pain to deal with insurance companies.
The only accident I was in was when I was learning to drive and over corrected. It was bad. I had my learners permit and my mother had called the insurance company to make sure that I was covered while I had my permit. They said yes, twice. But when I got in my accident that 'yes' suddenly changed to 'no'.
No other car was involved so it was alright in the end. Health insurance paid for the medical stuff. Dad's car was totaled, but it was an old car anyway. We changed companies right away.
Now we're looking for another auto insurance company yet again. They suddenly raised our payments. I think we'll probably go with Allstate as we have our home insurance through them and can get a discount. They'll give us double the coverage that we had with our old insurance for about $20 less in monthly payments.

Alison thats who we switched to. All of our insurance is with them, but if you have an accident on your record, be prepared that they may deny you. We had to have five years clean of accidents, tickets, yadda yadda, and then we got a 25% good driver's discount. So, you may get insured, but it may not be as big of a break.
