My friend needs some help and I would like to know how to help him. He bought a chin (male) and then bought another one which he was told was male. Well she happens to be female. They are 4 months old and we think the female is pregnant. She weighs 473g. I need some help big time here. Is she going to make it through the pregnancy? What can we do or give her to help her out? Maybe put on some weight, extra vitamins, ect. We are both really concerned and very upset with the breeder. Will she be okay?

Hello Courtney, and Welcome first of all!
Ok, first some questions... What makes you think or know for sure that the chin is pregnant? Is her belly very tight and firm as if she swallowed a baseball? Does she have the beginning of, or already enlongated nipples?
It's hard to say that she will be ok during birth because there could be problems no matter what size or age the chin is. But, this chin is definately at higher risk than an older and bigger chin.
Hopefully she's not pregnant.

Thanks! Well my friend said he witnessed the end of a mating, found the plug 1cm, and herd the famous hicups! She is here staying with me because I know a little about breeding. I have been reseaching for a year now and recently have a pair in breeding. When she was here I checked her over and she had a white substance on her privats so I am assuming that was semen. So basically the evidance is there for a mating but I am so stressed about this early pregnancy. I feel so bad and just hoping the pregnancy didn't take.
What are the chanced of a 4 month old getting pregnant and having a successful birth? I am so scared!
PS: off topic
Is there a way I can have an automatic email notification? I can't find it.

I have had several chins that I have witnessed mating, the plug, hiccups and all. But they did not take. Even though a female is in heat, does not always mean she is ovulating and releasing the egg. How long ago was this?
*Unfortunatly I am working on getting a new forum set-up. This one you have to keep checking back and cannot get auto-email notifications.

This happened a week ago. So I would not be able to tell forsure yet. Okay well that makes me feel a bit better with your chins pregnancy not taking. If she it I hope her birth canal is large enough. I have to call my vet tomorow.

LOL! Be sure to keep us updated on how she does. Check her in about a month for the beginning of nipples and belly firmness.
