Your dog maybe a purebred but should you breed:
Reason that might make you change your mind...
a) do you have time to show this pup/dog?
b) do you have time to train this dog for showing?
c) do you have the time to take care of the pups after birth if the dam will or cant?
d) do you have the money to take care of the pups? (remember they are not a money maker)
e) do you want to take the time in having alot of dogs in your home for a period of time if they do not sale right away?
and F) if you do plan to breed please please Do Not Sale To A Pet Store!!!

I am a breeder of American Bulldogs, and I will be getting into two more breeds later on when I get my kennel going. But I do not breed all the time and I only breed everyother year. I have at least 3 buyers before the breeding, If I dont I wont!
Please let me know your feelings on this or if you have anymore reasons why breeding is one of its own tasks. thanks :blob_fire:

I have yorkies and have bred them in the past. My female had 3 litters in 5 years. Pups had homes lined up before the breeding. I don't show, never have, but did have my dogs checked before breeding them. We also took very good care of the pups, 2 shots before they left and several wormings. I kept them until they were 8 weeks old. We did their tails and dewclaws ourselves. I also bred my boxers twice. No more breeding dogs for me though. There are too many rescues out there that need homes.

Leah,

Thats great you did stuff prior to the breeding, most dont do anything but just breed for money. Like our poor pit bulls. I know w/ my AmBulls I am very careful w/ who I sale too, I dont care if they get offended. Like I get all the time people from other countries, I wont sale to them, not that they are bad, just know the BSL is cracking down on almost all breeds. And I dont want to find out one of my pups have been killed. I dont breed a lot either, I have only bred my female with the same male twice now. But I do show and plan on continuing in the future with the other breeds I am getting. Wont breed so much as for showing and training ..
thanks for posting back

I think you are right. Breeding should never be taken lightly. Good for you.. for doing all the extra stuff.

I love American Bulldogs. Do you have a site or pics? What other breeds do you want to get into?
