Ok I'm not familiar with what they are calling it to start with.. but the picture- I cannot make heads or tails of? I'm just bored and looking through petfinder for fun (true animal geek here)..
I'm just curious now..it's like a **** riddle.. All I can see is something fuzzy (not reptillian looking that appears to be wearing a sweatshirt)
Someone help me..can YOU spot the animal??

I'm a DORK. I figured out what the words in the picture SAY
But what's a crocmonitor??

I've heard of a monitor lizard...and a crocodile-but was completely under the impression that they weren't the same thing. It looks like an alligator with a rag over its eyes. You aren't a dork, I look on petfinder all the time-I just never come up with stuff like that!

If you look at the picture closely, you will see the words "No picture currently available" across it. I don't know WHAT is in the picture, but it is definitely not a crocodile monitor. Here is a site with a picture of one - http://www.honoluluzoo.org/Crocodile_Monitor.htm

Once again, the completely uninformed purchasing a "pet" that should never have done it, then dumping it when it got too big to handle. What a shame.

Thanks for finding that site tunes... i'd heard of the crocodile monitor, but never seen one.

I agree about the uninformed getting the "pet" though, how sad.

The picture they use looks to be the back of a prairie dog sitting in a flower pot.

Thankfully crocodile monitors aren't too common in captivity, that rescue group has had that one for quite some time now... and from what I've been told by people who have spent time at their facility - it is pretty bad.

Nile monitors are a real issue, even Petco will sell them for 30 dollars and they get huge, and are innately aggressive. I see them dumped all the time, and have rescued a number myself and found new homes for them.

Thank you.
You know how something just bugs you cuz you cant figure it out..
A prairie dog in a sweater!
Yeah I wouldn't WANT one of those.. unless i had a zoo (meaning a literal zoo with big environments for things)..
