Mating

Ok, I witnessed a dormice mating last night! Oh my goodness! LOL Gidget and Gadget were making babies :) The only thing I can compare it to is watching dogs mate...lol The bred several quick times over about a 15 or 20 minute period then they actually locked up like dogs and stayed that way for 15 minutes! Gadget(the male) had Gidget(the female) by the back of the neck for the entire 15 minutes. There were noises and the whole bit! lol Then when they were done, or at least thought they were, Gadget tried to walk away and he was dragging poor Gidget...lol Fianlly they seperated and I went to bed! lol I'm not sure if that was the end of it or not but I think it probably was. So, I can expect babies in around 25 days :D

OMG! They breed like hamsters! How much can you sell them for? Do you have to be USDA approved or anything? How early do they sexually mature?

LOL.....I will probably sell babies for $40, they cannot be sexed until they reach sexual maturity at around 4-5 months.

Oh wow! That's more than I thought. Good so their mating and breeding isn't exactly like a hamster... cause hamsters become sexually mature VERY young. But I can sex hammies without being mature ;) ... they said it couldn't be done! ;) It was just like the chins kinda... Just judge between the space between their anus and their pee pee. The pet store said you couldn't tell until testicals started to drop. I got every single one correct! Yay! Go me! I wonder if Dormice could be done the same.

From what' I've read, no. But I would almost bet that someone with alot of experience with them would probably be able to. And that is NOT me LOL
