Drakkar my new violet I have maybe seen 2x since he's been here. He is in a large cage and came from small runs. He is very unsocialized and I think the different noises flip him out. But he needs to eat and drink more!! Tomorrow will be 3 days here. He has barely touched his hay, water, or pellets. If he does come out, he hears a noise and runs back in.
I am thinking about taking his hiding box out to force him to face the music. At this rate I think he'd hide forever if he could and if he has that option. What do y'all think?

Hmmm... The box is at the bottom of the cage right? So he hasnt even realized how big the cage really is!! I dunno if you should take it out or not. Kinda see two views on it. One that it might help him face the music as ya say. Or two, it might stress him more that he has no where to hide. I really dunno on this one. I wish ya tons of luck though!

Are you able to move food and water closer to his house? I think he is really stressed and needs some time to calm down. I'm afraid removing his house may cause him to be more stressed.

Tough call. I'd prolly move his food and water if ya can.
He's prolly never been around noise. Poor guy. That's one thing I can say about my chins, they are used to common household noises.

His water and food was moved to the bottom yesterday. I noticed this AM that a little of the oats was gone but that's it. Must have came out at night when the house was quiet. I'm thinking that as long as he has the option to hide he will continue. He hasn't even been upstairs yet. He was the first day he came home, but that's just cause he was put in the cage on the 2nd level.

Misty -- I had him in a pretty small cage here with nothing to hide in and he ate and drank just fine. He had a ledge to sit on and that was it. I always talked to him before I got to the the cage so he knew I was coming. I have a big bird that screams, dogs that bark. I had music playing in the room he was in so he should be used to some noise anyway. I think you should take the house out and lift the ramp so that he is in the bottom until he gets used to every thing.
