Monkeys!

I dunno if they are considered exotic, but hey... there was no where else to mention them!

Anywho I just thought I would let you all know my new exciting interest and news! You all know how Misty is getting a service dog... well I just contacted "Helping Hands" about being put on their waiting list for a service monkey!!! I saw a program on them tonight and I totally fell deep!!! I know it could be years before I can get one, but even the thought makes me happy!!!
They are so smart.... it floors me watching the things they did for their owners!!! I want one so bad! Pray that I get on the list and it doesn't take forever and a day for me to get one!

There are many monkeys out there and many are trained to be helpers.
I heard of one last month whos mom had passed away.Would you be interested in a rescue Monkey?
I can put you in contact with a man who raises them if you like.

I would love to have one now, but I don't know how to train them to do the things that the service trains them to do.
Does he do other things with them besides raise them.. and do you know what kind of monkeys they are?

I watched a program on them one time too. The little monkey washed the ladies face and got drinks out of the fridge for her and would even put the straw in it for her. It as so sweet!!! I hope your able to get one soon :inlove:

yup, I saw them doing that on the program that was on tonight too. I just think it is too awesome. I cant believe I never thought of it before. I've seen things that they can do and learn, but it never crossed my mind that they could actually be "service" monkeys! lol

I really hope something good comes of all this.

Yes the one I spoke of was.Now to find out if there are more like him out there.I would think we could find one.It may take awhile

I just emailed this woman who breeds and trains her monkeys for movies and such.. she has tons of animals. Anywho I emailed her to ask her if she knew of anyone who would have more info on stuff like this for me.


update: Well the lady I emailed said that she only knew of HH, so it didn't help much. She said she'd sell me the $4000 monkey if I could find someone to train in.. sooo I have a feeling that one wouldnt work! I havent got that kind of money, nor a person to train it.

UPDATE:

Well I heard back from Helping Hands today and had to fill out some paper work. The only thing that I think might cause them hesitations is that I am a college student, so there are times when Im not at home. I did say that mom would be home though so the monkey wouldnt be home alone.

I have an appt tomorrow with my doctor to try and find some allergy meds that Im NOT allergic to. Ive had ear probs for two weeks now and its irritating, so anywho when I am there hes gonna write me a note to add with my application stating my disability and how the monkey could be better for my life.

Wish me luck y'all! Oh and the waiting list depends on how much training the money needs. and since I am not a quadrapalegic (sp) it wont be as long!
