The "torture" method

Ok so I"m trying this now. Zaboo and Toretto are in a small dog crate. For the longest time they took turns grooming each other..mostly around the face, which was scary because I thought at any moment they might bite instead of chew each other's fur. Then Zaboo went around for a while trying to mount Toretto. Still nothing aggressive. Then a little more grooming..now Toretto is mounting Zaboo.
How long do you do this before trying to put them in a big neutral cage?

Amanda, I would leave them in there as long as you can watch them. And do not put them in a larger cage until you can watch them there also.

Ideally though the chins are supposed to be put in two teeny (barely room to move) cages placed side by side. That way you can leave them overnight without having to watch them, yet they can't hurt one another. This forces them to get used to scents and each other.

Oh. Well, this is the smallest I have. Now they are sleeping on top of each other. Crossing fingers. I'm off tomorrow..so can keep watching. They are still in the crate.

If they are already together and doing ok, I would put them in their large cage. The torture chamber is where the chins are seperate and can't get at eachother. It sounds like you have a match. When my chins start sleeping together, that is a good sign. I still watch them just incase one freaks out LOL!

That was the last of my 3 days off..and they were sleeping together in the crate, which i now understand was not a true "chamber".. I had put them in a big new cage, but they were going around..mounting..and some fur was being pulled. I had to go to work the next day so I separated them.. Should I have left them together? I will work on it again my next day off..

Here is one of my pairs I am trying to pairup, this is Zuri and Dreamer, they have been in the torture chamber since 1pm and they will stay in there until tommorrow morning with hopes after that they will get along :)

hahaha Jenny, my chins don't look like that in the torture chamber. That would be a condo for mine in the torture chamber. But if it works that is awesome

I havent had to use a torture chamber thank goodness. i just let mine meet up in the hallway. Its worked both times so far. My hard one is gonna be introducing MaKenzie, Zander AND Skylar

Amanda when you have 40 plus chins its the easiest way with the torture chamber, I will let yall know in the morning how this pair went :)

Well so far so good, they have been in a cage togeather this morning for 2hrs already and no bickering, just alot of grooming going on :) Fingers crossed it stays that way!!
