I know Jenny had a problem with a mother and father being agressive with her baby.

Well most of you know I breed in trio's mostly. Flauta had a baby on the 26th and Seraphene is due tomorrow. Flauta attacked Seraphene when we initially tried to put them together. So we seperated and kept Flauta alone with baby, and put Seraphene and Swahili together up on the top level which is wire.

Since Seraphene is due tomorrow, I want her to be off the wire. I tried one more time to put her with Flauta. Her and Flauta really didn't do too bad, but Seraphene got really agressive with Flauta's baby. The baby was climbing the side of the cage and Seraphene grabbed it by it's tail and yanked it down, then picked it up again with her teeth by the skin of its back. I thought 'ok maybe I am overreacting... soon after she started pouncing on the baby and slightly chasing.

So I took Flauta out and tried her and baby up top with Daddy. Swahili started grooming at first, then twice grabbed baby by her back leg with his teeth and started dragging her.

Soooo I removed Flauta and completely put her in a new cage, and Seraphene is closed off on the bottom.

I am really afraid I will have to keep both mothers seperated from each other and Dad. :wahh: :wahh:

I would keep them apart Misty. I know someone that just lost a beautiful ebony vc kit due to one severe head bite from another female:( Trust me I know it's a pain in the butt when you are limited for space:irked:

When kits are involved I especially do not take any chances, My female and her mate attacked their own kit so anything is possible, If it wasn't for my quick reflexes Blackberri may not be here today and that really makes me sad thinking of that day that it all happened, I never seen a mother or father go after thier kit like these 2 did, the mother was pulling Blackberri off the side of the cage to try to mutilate her, I know what she was going to do from her reaction to the kit so I did not take anymore chances and I raised BB from day one and it was totally worth it!!

Blackberri was running and screaming from her mother in fright so I knew little Blackberri was going to only have me as her mom and dad, her mother was stalking her like a wild cat would thier prey :(

Better safe than sorry Misty. Jenny & Chins
