Well, hubby has agreed to help me tear up the carpet in the chin room and put down tile. I'm going to get the walls cleaned, plastic put up over them and tile put down this week-end. I'm so excited. Should be much easier to keep clean. Now to get my new dust containers so I can keep that under control a little better and I have new water bottle coming. Chin room is gonna look great! :cloud9:

Cool! I'd like to put down indoor/outdoor carpet in my room and I wish I had covered the walls with plastic. They are disgusting, but fortunately my walls are forest green! LOL!

LOL, my walls are so bad and my curtain is full of dust! It's going to take me all day scrubbing them and then they will still probably be yellow :duh: . Good thing it's the wallpaper that you can wipe down! This time I'm going to tack the plastic up so all I have to do is take it down, throw it away and put up new. I'm really excited about the tile too. Sure wish I could do my whole house in tile. I hate carpet! Especially when you have as many pets as I do - lol...

We tiled our kitchen this past year and I love it, we had linoleum in there and that stuff is pretty but it sucks if you drop a knife or pan on it, we are planning to rip up all the carpet in the entire house this spring and lay tile throughout the whole house, except the chinroom, I always worry if a chin should jump out of the cage and if they hit carpet they just bounce, I had that happen the other day with a kit, she jumped straight out of the cage when I opened the door to their cage and bounced off the carpet and it did not phase her, I think if I do redo the floors in there I will put indoor/outdoor carpet, not the green astro turf but real carpet, its just shorter in length than regular carpet, I am sure you guys know what I am talking about :dizzy:
The only downfall to tile is that it cracks some places eventually but oh well when you got 3 dogs and get tired of the accidents with carpet a crack in the tile is nothing!

I never thought about them jumping from the cage. I think I'll get throw rugs and line up in front of the cages so if they do escape it will be a softer landing plus I can just take them outside and shake them out when needed. Thanks for pointing that out Jenny! Now to get all the chins moved out so the work can begin. Guess I'll have a living room full of chins this week-end :wazzup_sg:

Melinda,
If you have a bed and bath beyond there, they have bathroom runner rugs that would cushion a fall and you can run them along the front of the cages and they come in all colors and shake off easy and machine washable

Well, being the lazy people that we are - lol - we are going to tackle this job this week-end. I've got to move all my chins out so had to clean up the other room to be able to get them moved into and once I got that done I was too tired - lol...So, this Fri. nite everyone is getting moved out and the walls are getting cleaned and plastic tacked up, then Sat. we are riping out carpet and laying new tile. Sun. everyone will hopefully get moved back in. I can't wait to get everything organized. I'll get pictures for sure!

Melinda have you layed tile before? It takes 24hrs for the grout to dry and then you have to put a clear coat on to protect the grout from soaking up spills, so thats another 24hrs for that to dry, all in all it took 5 days just to do our kitchen where we could put the refrig and middle Island back in there, it sucked having the refrig in my den on a old piece of carpet and then after we got everything back in the kitchen and the refrig hooked backup our refrig went out 2 days later so I had to go spend $1500 on a new refrig, I wanted a bigger one this time, what can I say :dizzy:
Its so much fun though having a fresh new look to your house

Well, I haven't but hubby has. He told me tonight that I had no idea and it was going to take longer than I think. Guess my chins will have a temporary room for awhile. I've got it cleaned out to where the cages will all fit and the door will shut so it won't be too stressful on them. This really is turning out to be a bigger deal than I thought but sure will be nice to be able to sweep the floor and get all the hay up. Think long term, think long term, think long term - lol....I may change my mind about doing the whole house once we get this little room done! :duh:

Well the tile is almost down. Acutally what it is, is industrial tile (left over from one of hubby's jobs) so it's a pvp tile -- which is hard vinyl that gets glued down so no grout required and you can walk on it 30 mins after it's down. I hadn't seen it until tonight . It's not all that fancy but it's gonna be so nice. It's an off white with a light brown color running through it. Sure lightened the room. The carpet was hard pulling up. Whoever layed it was staple happy! Now once he gets the finished edges done I get to go clean walls and put up plastic so we can move everyone back in. It's gonna be so nice to be able to sweep  But boy are my knees and back going to be sore tomorrow!

Phewww, almost done! I have that vinyl type wall paper so wipes down real easy and quick so I have the walls done. I'm still going to put up plastic though to protect them and it's a lot easier with the chins out of there. They are ready to get back to their room and I'm sooo ready to be done. Looks so fresh and clean. Now I want to do the rest of the house :duh:

OMG -- I am so sore I can barely move today - lmfao. But, my room is sooo nice. I just took the broom and swept up this morning -- it was great. The chins seem to like it too. It's much brighter and seems cooler/fresher now that the carpet is gone. I tried to get pictures today but the room is kind of small and is wall to wall cages so they really didn't turn out. Now I need to get my new dust containers so that can control the dust a little better. You should have seen a couple of shelves we took down, oh my, were they ever dusty :lol2:
