ok guys.... i kinda have some questions and problems i need help with.
ok first off.....
i have heard about this kline diet, but not much. i was wondering why most of you switch them off of it or do not use it.... is there something wrong with? i was wondering because i have a place here that i can buy the kline feed from for much cheaper then what i spend shipping and buying the feed....and thats kinda best for me right now. also...... the new chinchillas that i got are on the kline diet...... and they seem to be doing better.....alot better then mine are.........theyre much bigger and healthier..... and the diet theyve been on is the kline diet and pet store timothy hay..... i personally didnt see a problem with it to begine with, but then some breeders told me to order mazuri and junk because it was better...... but i really havnt seen a differnce in it..... the female that i just got has already had a nice healthy baby and shes really big and healthy, and mines seven months and 14 ounces.....pippins almost a year and hes only 1 pound 2 ounces. theyre 1 pound 7 ounces and shes almost 2 pounds....she preggers....but shes huge! im really having serious reconcederations on the diets ive had my chinchillas on...... it dosnt seem to be helping....... and its costing my tooth and nail! ok....so my question is are there any diets out there like the kline diet that i can buy from a store that wont cost me my college savings.....right now is getting really tough and i dont have money to spend! kk well....uh....help! thanks

Kei,

If you have access to buy the Kline Diet locally without having it shipped to you then you are very lucky and I would suggest using the diet, I switched to another diet and I had some regrets because I never had any problems with diahrrea on the Kline diet but when I switched off the Kline Diet to APD diet I had diahrrea constantly and I narrowed it down to the APD diet causing this so I went back to the Kline diet and now everyone is back to normal. I am sticking with this diet from here on out!

I buy my Kline diet through Ann Ingram and I go through 100lbs of pellets a month, sometimes more than 100lbs, but to me if my herd does best on this diet then cost does not matter, I had to learn the hard way.

I use Mauzuri just bc it was what I heard was best for them. I order mine as I need it. Luckily my herd is small enough that I only need 10 lbs every three months or so. I haven't heard anything bad about the Kline diet though. Shoot, Jenny uses it and we see how beautiful her chins are!

I use Mazuri because it is a good diet, and I can get it locally. I have never heard anything bad about the Kline diet.... unless the cost would count.

I am with Jenny... if you can get it locally without paying shipping then you are a lucky girl. Go for it.

I have heard great things about the Kline diet. I would switch to it if it weren't so expensive. My only complaint with Mazuri is that it has corn in it. I HATE corn in feed. I'd say go for it Kei.

ah, thats what i had heard, so i wasnt sure on using it. The girl who gave the name to me uses it for her rabbits and has never had a problem...... but i wasnt so sure about chinchillas.

I have been back and forth with debating with myself on using Calf Manna. I talk to breeders that love it and say they have had no problems, then to breeders that had all these horrid problems with it.

But I look at most of my chins baby weights and such and most of my babies are born 60+ grams. I don't believe I need Calf Manna.

I agree Misty. I have healthy kits, so I see no need for the Calf Manna. I do know some who use it though... with success. I am just not willing to risk the horror stories I have heard.

Well personally for me I did use Caf manna when I first started breeding and I had diahrrea problems with almost everyone and I did not give them very much either, and during my years of breeding I have come to the conclusion if it is not made for chins then why feed it? I feed a good quality chin pellet ( The Kline Diet) and give my chins hay and a grain supplement made from the Klines and honestly I have never had a chin not have the proper color yellow teeth and just absolutely no problems at all, other than the usual handfeeding with a few first time moms that their milk came in late.

I also feed the Kline Diet and supplement from Ann Ingram and highly recommend it! It really does show a noticable difference in fur quality!
Jenny, 100lbs a month??? How much does that cost you, if I may ask. I only purchase 25lbs a month :dizzy:
